JOB SUMMARY:
Lead, direct, and manage the overall sales and marketing efforts of the sales organization in order to develop the assigned portfolio of brands and maximize the sales of these brands across the primary account base and trade channels. Responsible for Achieving all gross profit goals and Performance and Business metrics set forth annually. Responsible for building the best and most capable sales team in the state.
Core Job Functions
- Achieve sales and gross profit goals
- Manage all aspects of the sales and marketing functions across assigned sales division to include supervising the sales force, developing and maintaining customer relationships, proactively managing Supplier Partners and personnel.
- Actively Work with the other functional areas of the business to ensure effective management of the business priorities to include: On-premise and Corporate channels divisions, merchandising and field marketing, marketing services, purchasing , Supplier coordinators, and customer service
- Manage and develop supplier partnerships in order to help achieve mutual business objectives, execute all defined selling activity, and Improve market development of the defined portfolio of brands at retail
- Deliver and increase divisional profits through consistent and disciplined focus around the key business metrics that include; pricing and margin mgmt, inventory mgmt, A&P budget mgmt, AR focus, Cost center expenses, and all other input factors that improve the overall financial performance of the business
- Work with all the sales personnel directly in the market in order to ensure the effective execution of the business priorities as well as train, coach and develop our sales team to be the best in the state.
Key Accountabilities and Workstreams
- Improve market penetration of our portfolio of brands and increase profits through your sales’ team execution on price promotions, distribution, displays, full line sales, and additional shelf space for all Company products
- Develop and execute the monthly business driver process.
- Prepare for and manage the monthly sales planning and marketing meetings for primary sales divisions (war room meetings).
- Plan and execute weekly sales team meetings to assist, direct, and educate them to become more effective in the trade to include channel divisions
- Complete performance updates and analysis for the sales team on a timely basis and utilize this information to improve the overall performance of the sales teams
- Consistently identify opportunities to reduce costs, optimize margins and improve the overall financial performance of the division
- Effectively communicate across the organization to include supplier issues and changes, product and brand information, pricing information, programs etc
- Keep informed of all competitive activity in the trade, on sale promotions, off sale pricing and special events in your area. Communicate activity to management and make recommendations to keep the Company competitive.
- Manage accounts receivable and support sales team in the collection of past due accounts and guide salesperson of customer consequence for non-payments in accordance with Company policy.
- Actively manage vendor receivable accounts that are less than 75 days old
Leadership Requirements
- Balance Company objectives with supplier and retailer requests.
- Coach the sales team in a professional manner. Ensure that all Company standards and policies are adhered to (i.e. dress code, cleanliness, policies and standards on the pre-plan).
- Provide positive exposure for Company through community involvement, quality service, and excellent support to ultimately increase product sales and market share.
- Deliver annual performance appraisals or PDP’s to the direct reports inclusive of employee development plans and initiatives.
- Update necessary personnel of your staff’s attendance and route lists and ensure coverage of any vacant route
Job Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in related field and 3-5 years sales experience
- Proven ability to develop and effectively lead direct reports.
- Ability to organize and execute plans.
- Creativity in regard to problem solving and acting on opportunity
