This position is located at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport. As an Assistant, you will provide secretarial and administrative support to the Commander.

As an Assistant at NUWC your duties may include:
· Managing office routines and administrative procedures
· Coordinating official visits and events
· Managing travel arrangements
· Preparing official correspondence
· Using office automation products (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Access, and MS Outlook.)

For NG-03: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NG-02 (GS-05/06) in the Federal service as a secretary performing clerical or administrative support in an office setting. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience should demonstrate the following:
· Scheduling office visits/appointments
· Greeting and checking-in office visitors
· Answering customer inquiries over the telephone.
For NG-04: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NG-03 (GS-07/08) in the Federal service as a secretary performing administrative support duties that include arranging conferences, events, or meetings that extend beyond the organization? Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience should demonstrate the following:
· Coordinating meeting logistics with visitors and management
· Planning events where outside offices are invited
· Arranging business travel.

REQUIREMENTS:
Generally, current Federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade.
Selectee is required to participate in the Department of Defense direct deposit of pay program.
