Job Description
Required Qualifications- Production support experience in technical troubleshooting and user support environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, will be working with offshore and onshore support teams. Must be able to clearly communicate action plans, work performed, issue details to a user by phone/email in a positive manner.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills with the ability to be a team player at all times.
- Ability to handle fast paced work environment, involvement in multi-project infrastructure and application support
- Ability to effectively resolve high-demand issues in a timely manner
- Background in the financial services industry, a plus.
Skill set:
- Must have a conceptual understanding of:
- Relational Database
- Software Engineering
- Windows Server and Operating Systems
- Proficient in Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, SQLPlus
- Experience with object-oriented programming languages and middleware technologies, a plus
- Scheduling Software, i.e. Control M, a plus
Specific responsibilities as an application support engineer on the team include:
- Handle routine problem calls and incident tickets.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot production issues and conduct system and application analysis to determine root cause of problems or malfunctions.
- Consult with senior developers and management to direct problems to appropriate resources for resolution
- Monitor problems to insure final resolution or appropriate handoff to other teams has been achieved.
- Ability to multi-task and take ownership and responsibility for multiple issues.
- Provide 24x7 on call support for nightly batch jobs. Participate in on call rotation, including some week end support and hand-off of issues between onsite and offshore staff.
- As part of help desk team, respond to all users issue, provide access to users.
- Maintain operation, monitoring and integrity of production systems to meet established standards.
- Resolve user issues by reviewing system log information, recreating user errors and testing changes.
- Work closely with developers to install/test fixes and enhancements.
- Application verification/validation of patches, fixes.
- Support ad-hoc request for information and data manipulation.
- Development as needed in support of production issues.
