Physician - PRN

JOB SUMMARY:
Applies and modifies principles, methods and techniques of medicine to provide urgent patient care based on acuity to treat a variety of injuries in urgent care clinic practice in accordance with Concentra health medical protocols and policies, practices and procedures.
 Requirements
  • Examines or conducts tests on patient to provide information on medical condition.

  • Orders or executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patients condition.

  • Charts all patient transactions in accordance with Concentra policies, practices and procedures.

  • Communicates and works with medical staff to ensure coordinated efforts for the provision of high quality medical treatment and client service.

  • Prescribes, dispenses and administers legal drugs in accordance with state and federal statues.

  • Analyzes reports and findings of tests and of examination, and diagnoses condition.

  • Prescribes or administers treatment, medication, vaccination, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent injury.

  • Explains procedures and discusses test results on prescribed treatments with patients.

  • Formulates and administers health programs.

  • Works with Medical Director to ensure operations are consistent with medical policy and professional standards in urgent care/emergency medicine and standards of Association and Concentra.

  • Participates in the development, implementation and revision of policies affecting medical practice, judgment and quality of urgent care health care.

  • Assists in the development and presentation of instruction and education programs for physicians, nurses and other personnel employed by or associated with Concentra.

  • Submits periodic operational activity reports as requested.

  • Assures compliance with licensing, certification and accrediting bodies.

  • Represents Associations and Concentra as reasonably required at internal and external meetings.

  • Provides guidance to other medical staff (i.e., physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses and medical assistants) to ensure Concentras mission is achieved.



Required Skills

JOB-RELATED SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
  • Knowledge of professional medical practices related to the treatment of acute illnesses and injuries

  • Knowledge of organizational and medical policies, regulations and procedures.

  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments

  • Knowledge of common safety hazards an precautions to establish a safe medical environment

  • Skill in developing and maintaining medical quality assurance and quality control standards

  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the general public

  • Ability to react calmly, objectively and effectively in emergency situations.

  • Ability to communicate clearly with patients, staff and clients.

  • Ability to motivate and work effectively with others.


WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Clinic environment with exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment. Contact may involve dealing with upset or uneasy people.

  • Constant walking, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting. Requires working under pressure during emergency situations or during irregular hours.



Required Experience

EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:
  • Licensure requirements of the state of jurisdiction.

  • Graduate of accredited MD program.

  • Must be specialty certified in one of the following:
    • Emergency Medicine Residency-Trained physicians: board certification by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) or American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine (AOBEM) is preferred.



  • Current controlled substances registration certificate from the DEA


JOB RELATED EXPERIENCE:
  • Three (3) years post training experience within the last four (4) years. Five (5) years of experience within the last seven (7) years is desired.
