Infant, 1's and 2's Teacher

Infant, 1s and 2s TeacherReports to: Center Director  Job Summary: Plans and implements activities that promote the social, physical and intellectual growth of children. Responsible for, models and holds other accountable for the care, hygiene, learning and developmental activities, specialized programs, and redirection of children covering infant/toddler, pre-school and kindergarten age groups. Communicates directly with parents. Maintains classroom records, cleanliness and orderliness.  General Responsibilities:
  • Engage with current and prospective parents and family members and is responsive to their needs
  • Comply with CCLC and all governmental regulations regarding the care of children
  • Understand responsibilities as a mandated reporter
  • Keep the Center Director informed of any necessary information regarding the care and safety of children • Complete timely and accurate documentation according to CCLC and other licensing or regulation requirements
  • Use time wisely and take initiative when appropriate
  • Assist and accept responsibilities in other daily center duties that might be temporary in the event other personnel are not available
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, center events, and parent/customer meetings as required
  • Follow procedures and policies as stated in the Parent and Staff Handbook
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and models understanding of CCLC’s philosophy including our curriculum
  • Maintain accreditation standards and licensing regulations at all times
  • Greet children and parents daily at drop off and pick up
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, center events, and parent/customer meetings as required
  • Be a supportive and contributing member of the team
  • Demonstrate initiative in decision making; i.e. transitions, classroom management, crisis management
  • Provide appropriate role modeling to fellow staff members
  • Consistently demonstrate a positive and professional attitude
  • Follow the dress code as stated in the Staff Handbook
  • Adhere to and act in line with company mission and values at all times
  • Meet all deadlines
 Infant 1s and 2s TeacherJob Knowledge/Skills:
  • Demonstrate proficiency in early childhood care and education
  • Teacher skills with demonstrated proficiency
  • Solid organizational skills
  • Creates effective customer service strategies for children and families
  • Understanding of CCLC policies and governmental regulations regarding the care of children
  • Knowledge of NAEYC accreditation requirements
  • Enjoys an increased level of interaction with parents
  • Ability to explain CCLC’s philosophy and policies to parents and staff
  • Can create a team environment
  • Ability to plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum
 Program Responsibilities:
  • Complete child evaluations and conduct parent conferences
  • Contribute to regular monthly newsletters
  • Delegate appropriate responsibilities to coworkers
  • Notify parents when their child is ill, injured or experiencing other changes while at school
  • Plan, implement, and revise curriculum and program materials consistently and appropriately
  • Create and maintain annual child portfolios as described in Curriculum manual
  • Insure daily schedules incorporate a balance of indoor/outdoor, quiet/active, individual/group child initiated/staff initiated activities
  • Provide opportunities for coworkers to give input and feedback regarding curriculum, environment and the overall program
  • Maintain positive learning environments
  • Seek assistance as needed regarding child development issues and provide assistance when necessary
  • Engage in professional development
  • Proactive in implementing best practices in the program
 Classroom Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate classroom responsibilities with other classroom Teachers and/or Assistant Teachers
  • Coordinate with teachers and center administration to ensure appropriate ratios at all times
  • Insure all children are accounted for and properly supervised
  • Insure that classroom setup allows for ease of supervision and foresees any changes that may need to be implemented
  • Perform and delegate appropriate housekeeping activities that will insure health and safety to children (i.e.: wiping spills, clearing debris, etc.)
 Team and Family Interactions:
  • Approach issues and problems through teamwork and collaborative efforts
  • Address conflict in a fair, equitable and diplomatic manner
  • Share ideas and information about child development; research appropriate information
  • Emphasize the positive, communicate concerns in a timely fashion

  • Focus on solving problems and think out ideas that may be best for children and families

 RequirementsInfant 1s and 2s Teacher
  • 1-3 years’ experience
  • 1+ years working with assigned age group desired
  • 1-2 year early childhood experience desired
  • Meets experience criteria required by the state
 Educational Qualifications:
  • Meets education criteria required by the state
  • AA in Early Childhood Education or equivalent preferred
  • CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain
  • Child Development permit or CDA preferred

 Infant, 1s and 2s TeacherPhysical Demands/Work Environment:
  • Work is performed primarily in the center environment
  • Centers are dynamic with a high level of activity
  • Work may also be performed in the community on field trips
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs and stand for up to 95% of the day
  • Assume posture at low levels, stoop, sit on floor and bend down numerous times per day
  • Agility to move from seated to standing position quickly to respond to children’s needs
  • Perform all activities with children for prolonged periods such as dancing, jumping, running, and walking
  • Can perform all duties both indoors and outdoors
  • Possess acceptable hearing and vision capabilities in order to monitor well-being of children
  • Work hours may vary to accommodate needs of children and families
