Tax Analyst at Providence

Responsibilities: Our client is seeking a Tax Analyst for their Providence, Rhode Island (RI) location.

The Tax Analyst will develop, plan and coordinate responses to IRS tax examinations. Also, ensure that tax positions are accurately represented in IRS tax return audits. Responsible for ensuring that tax examinations result in the company being liable for the minimum tax permitted by law.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate with Reporting team to ensure timely, accurate, and complete responses to IRS Information Document requests


• Provide recommendations on how to resolve issues


• Anticipate and plan for disagreements on IRS inquiries


• Coordinate on-site IRS examinations with business unit personnel


• Work with business unit personnel in responding to IDRs


• Apprise appropriate personnel of federal and/or state audit issues


• Maintain log of all IRS inquiries


• Summarize proposed tax adjustments using applicable software


• Support Director, Tax Audits in the audit settlement process by providing analysis for cash flow, effective tax rate and various settlement scenarios


• Prepare basis computations in support of tax planning initiatives and/or M&A disposition initiatives


• Assist Director, Tax Audits in modeling tax consequences of potential dispositions


• Coordinate Department Internal Control requirements

 RequirementsThe successful Tax Analyst applicant will possess the following requirements (required unless noted otherwise):

• BS in Accounting; CPA and/or MST preferred


• Minimum of 5 years experience in a large corporate tax environment


• Must have good communication and writing skills to interact with various departments and with outside reporting jurisdictions


• Detail and deadline oriented


• Strong analytical and problem solving skills


• Ability to manage projects


• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
