It requires a highly trained, educated and skilled workforce to support todays sophisticated Navy and Marine Corps ships, aircraft, weapon systems and computer systems. Over 41,000 acquisition professionals perform "cradle to grave" management of highly technical systems, equipment, facilities, supplies and services.
Individuals will be placed in the Naval Acquisition Development Program (NADP). The NADP is a structured management-training program including formal education, diverse rotational assignments, extensive on-the-job training, and graduate tuition assistance that is tailored to various acquisition career fields for up to three years. These positions are located throughout the U.S.; however a majority are located within the greater Washington D.C. metropolitan area, CA, WA, MD, VA, PA, NJ, RI and FL.

· Conduct routine operational analysis and formulates system concept architectural designs, functions specification, software development, system integration and documentation aspects of computer systems.
· Perform developmental computer scientist assignments of progressive complexity e.g. developing, testing, and evaluating automated systems, programs, and hardware and software interfacing techniques.
· Develop simulation models to replicate systems behavior.
· Conduct technical research for the preliminary design, development, and final approval of new or revised procedures, programming aids, and systems enhancements

To qualify for this position, your resume must show sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position for which you are being considered. All qualification requirements, including completion of college degrees, must be met by June 30, 2013. Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sectors.
Basic Requirements-
A Bachelors degree (or will complete by Jun 30, 2013) in computer science. OR
Have a Bachelors degree (or will complete by Jun 30, 2013) that includes 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have been in any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.
GS-7 Requirements:
Have (or will complete by June 30, 2013) a degree that meets the requirements through one of the following methods, no more than 10% of academic credit can be based on pass/fail or similar non-traditional grading systems.
· 2.95 GPA overall or higher or last 2 yrs (< 10% Pass/Fail)
· 3.45 GPA overall or higher or last 2 yrs in major (< 10% Pass/Fail)
· Upper 1/3 ranking in graduating class (you must submit proof with your application)
· National Scholastic Honor Society. Membership in a freshman honor society cannot be used to meet the requirements of this provision. (You must submit proof with your application) OR
Experience: One year of professional computer science experience in an appropriate field comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-5 level in the Federal service or equivalent assisting in one of the following; Developing software systems, Developing computer graphics systems, Developing high-speed computing systems and real time data acquisition systems, Researching artificial intelligence, Developing information processing display, control, and transfer, or other similar qualifying work. OR
Education: Have (or will complete by Jun 30, 2013) one year of graduate education (18 semester hours) related to Computer Science. OR
Combination of Education and Experience: Applicants who possess a percentage of the required professional experience and a percentage of the required graduate level of education such that, when the percentages of the required graduate education and specialized experience are added together, they equal 100 percent. (Only graduate education and only professional experience equivalent to the GS-5 or higher is creditable.)
GS-9 Requirements:
Experience: One year of specialized professional computer science related experience equivalent to the GS-7 in the federal sector performing duties in one of the following fields: Developing of software systems; Developing computer graphics systems; Developing high-speed computing systems and real time data acquisition systems; Developing integrated computer systems; Developing problem-oriented and nonprocedural languages and their translating/operating systems; Constructing input-output buffering schemes, and designing automatic scheduling and monitoring methods to increase scope and effectiveness of computer applications; Developing advanced concepts of automation and information processing display, control, and transfer; Researching in computational complexity and the analysis of algorithms to explore data structures that lead to highly efficient combinatorial algorithms; Developing abstract complexity theory to provide a theoretical foundation for understanding the properties of the running times of efficient computer programs for a given function; Investigating the mathematical structure of deterministic context free languages; or Developing cost methods to provide a clearer understanding of the behavior of algebraic algorithms with particular emphasis on the appropriate notion of scarcity for a given problem. Education: Have (or will complete by Jun 30, 2013) two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education (36 semester hours) that leads to a Masters degree in Computer Science or in a related field. OR
Combination of Education and Experience: Applicants who possess a percentage of the required professional experience and a percentage of the required graduate level of education such that, when the percentages of the required graduate education and specialized experience are added together, they equal 100 percent. (Only graduate education and only professional experience equivalent to the GS-7 or higher is creditable.)

REQUIREMENTS:
Selectee is required to participate in the Department of Defense direct deposit of pay program.

This position has promotion potential to the 12 grade.
