The Providence VA Medical Center, located in downtown Providence, RI provides opportunity for urban and/or rural living with an easy commute. The Medical Center delivers a broad range of services including general medicine, surgical and psychiatric inpatient facilities, fully accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO). The Medical Center includes a vibrant research program and is affiliated with the Alpert Medical School of Brown University, Harvard School of Dental Medicine and the University of Rhode Island, College of Pharmacy. The Center also operates three (3) Community Based Outpatient Clinics in New Bedford, Hyannis, MA and Middletown, RI as well as three (3) Vet Centers.

This Registered Nurse position is located in Nursing Service at the Medical Center and is a bargaining unit position.

Applicants education and experience will be reviewed by a Professional Standards Board to determine the grade and salary of the applicant selected. The recommended salary will be at any point in the range listed for this vacancy.

This is a permanent part-time position. The work schedule is: Nights, 65 hours per pay period (a pay period is two weeks).

  • Cares for emergent and non-emergent patients.
  • Performs advanced cardiac monitoring.
  • Identifies and manages life-sustaining physiologic functions in unstable patients.
  • Has the ability to make quick and accurate assessments to include both physical and mental conditions.
  • Possess knowledge of normal VS. abnormal findings and reporting abnormal findings as warranted.
  • Utilizes critical thinking to intervene with appropriate intervention for urgent/emergent care.
  • Cares for acute and chronically ill patients
  • Possess phlebotomy, and basic IV and central line skills.

Basic Requirements:

  • Graduate of a state approved, National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)/Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited school of Nursing.
  • Active, current, full and unrestricted Registered Nurse License.
  • Registered Nurses appointed to direct patient care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by United States Code 7402 (d) and 7407 (d).

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing or a field related to nursing.
  • Minimum of 2 years of progressive medical/surgical experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Knowledge of hemodynamics.
  • Minimum of two years Telemetry/Stepdown experience.
  • Prior ICU experience a plus!
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in problem solving and decision making.
  • Experience using an Electronic Medical Record.
  • Highly-motivated, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, dependable and flexible individual with a positive attitude.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with patients/families and with an interdisciplinary team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply the nursing process to clinical practice.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, bending, pulling, pushing, and sitting at a keyboard. Transferring patients and objects may be required. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations or operative/invasive procedures. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient needs and able to manage work activities in a highly technological integrated work environment.

JOB PURPOSE:
Manage rental accounts and meet company account management goals and expectations, by collecting on past due accounts while adhering to company standards, policies, and procedures. Use company vehicle to complete field collection runs, to do pick-ups on past due accounts. Accomplish these in a way that is consistent with the RAC mission statement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Account Management:
Set goals and schedule weekly meetings with District Manager; Prioritize collection of hard accounts.
Visit past due customers at residence and place of employment
Review expired accounts and communicate with the customers to promote timely payments
Maintain accurate records of past due account activity and daily activities
Complete customer service calls in a timely manner as assigned
Follow all policies and procedures and adhere to all standards
Customer Pick-ups:
Load and upload truck per policy to protect merchandise
Pick-up merchandise from customer homes as assigned - requires heavy lifting
Keep assigned vehicle(s) clean and maintained, as required, for safe operation
Follow all safety, handling and transportation procedures to avoid personal injury and property damage
Ensure personal compliance with applicable DOT regulations
